On July 1st, EvoEnzyme opened its doors to a group of students and their tutors from the Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology (MIB) professional degree at Université Paris Cité.

This visit was part of the L3proMIB program at University Paris Cité, an international mobility initiative that allows students to experience the day-to-day work of professionals in an international context and to gain a clearer understanding of the different roles, research themes, and goals in each organization.

The students are in their third-year undergraduate and are completing their work-study contracts in diverse companies and research institutes.

It was a perfect opportunity to introduce these young talents to a project funded by the European Union, such as WoundSens, and for them to understand the potential societal impact.

EvoEnzyme’s team members showed the students their work with enzyme engineering. Researcher Juan Cerrolaza gave a talk in which he explained the WoundSens project. This allowed them to learn about the current work being carried out to develop a biosensor-integrated wound dressing for the early detection of wound infections without invasive intervention.

Afterwards, they visited the laboratories, where the students got a firsthand look at the innovative equipment and the techniques employed to develop the optimized enzymes for the WoundSens smart dressing.

Thank you for your interest and engaging questions. It was a truly enriching experience for everyone involved!
